    Shift handoff reports

Can the next shift start with the context the last shift learned?

Give supervisors a shared starting point for the handoff: the recorded shift events, an inspectable summary and the questions that still need a person to answer.

    Share a common record

Give incoming and outgoing teams the same production context.

    Keep sources within reach

Follow summary statements to relevant reports.

    Preserve human judgment

Use the handoff to resolve uncertainty and assign the next action.

The next team needs more than the final count.

A shift can leave behind downtime, repeated alarms, a recipe change and a problem that appeared resolved. IntelliTrack™'s handoff workflow brings the recorded context together so the incoming team can ask better questions and verify the evidence behind the summary.

    How it works in IntelliTrack™

Prepare after the shift, then review with the team.

    1. Configure the shift context

Define the relevant area and shift schedule, including applicable fallback boundaries.

    2. Generate the supported summary

With Assist and the Summaries workload configured, the workflow prepares the handoff after the shift ends from available production context.

    3. Inspect and discuss

Review the report links and recorded events. Use a configured summary-ready notification if useful, and retain a human handoff for unresolved or critical issues.

    Illustrative manufacturing scenario

An intermittent fault crosses the shift boundary.

The outgoing shift saw repeated alarms and recorded a resolution. The next supervisor reviews the alarms, downtime and resolution context, then confirms whether the issue is actually closed or still needs attention.

Build on the right data and responsibilities.

    • Set up the area and shift definitions so the summary covers the intended window. Confirm time boundaries around schedule changes.
    • Generated summaries require Assist and a configured Summaries provider workload. They are prepared after the shift, rather than being an instantaneous end-of-shift guarantee.
    • Review missing or late records and unresolved issues. The summary complements direct handoff and your operating log; it does not replace critical communication.

    Practical questions

What to know before you start.

When does the summary become available?

The workflow prepares it after the shift ends, normally after a short processing interval. Provider availability, configuration and processing affect readiness; it should not be treated as an instantaneous service guarantee.

Do shift summaries require an AI provider?

Generating the assisted summary requires Assist and a configured Summaries connection. Existing summaries remain readable when Assist is turned off.

    Can we verify the narrative?

The workflow links statements to relevant source reports and uses recorded values for the production context. Supervisors should inspect those sources when a statement affects the next shift's decision.

Can supervisors be notified when it is ready?

The ShiftSummaryReady publication can be connected to the relevant subscriptions and delivery channels. Configure and test the audience and delivery path.

Does this replace an operator's handoff?

No. Recorded data may omit a physical observation or a developing situation. Use the summary to support the conversation, then explicitly communicate critical conditions, ownership and next steps.

Bring a shift that is difficult to hand over.

We can review your areas, shift boundaries and the events a supervisor needs to see, then show how a summary points back to the production evidence.
