Event Engine: The Middleware That Keeps Up With Your Plant

Purpose-built integration between your PLCs and enterprise systems — without the overhead.

Manufacturing integration projects fail the same way every time. Engineers spend weeks configuring individual tags. Systems fall behind under data volume. When something breaks, nobody can tell where it broke or why. And when the process changes, updating the middleware becomes a project of its own.

Event Engine was built to fix that.

It connects PLCs, databases, and enterprise systems with a different approach: tag structures (UDTs, DBs, etc.) imported directly from the PLC, an event processing architecture that operates 6–8x faster than conventional middleware, and a web-based diagnostic interface that makes the system's behavior visible without guesswork.

What Event Engine Solves

The tag configuration problem.

Traditional middleware requires engineers to define and manage individual tags manually — a labor-intensive process that multiplies with every PLC and every change. Event Engine imports tag structures directly from the PLC, reducing configuration time and eliminating the drift that happens when tags and middleware fall out of sync.

The performance problem.

Event processing bottlenecks delay the data that drives manufacturing decisions. Event Engine's architecture delivers near-real-time throughput — operating significantly faster than legacy middleware platforms — so data is where it needs to be when it needs to be there.

The visibility problem.

When a middleware system behaves unexpectedly, most platforms offer little help diagnosing it. Event Engine includes comprehensive built-in diagnostics so engineers can monitor what the system is doing, identify where issues occur, and correct them without black-box troubleshooting.

The access problem.

Middleware configuration and monitoring shouldn't require desktop software, VPN sessions, or specialized access. Event Engine's web-based interface is accessible from any browser on the plant network, with user access control to manage who can see what's going, as well as who can configure what's going on.

What Event Engine Supports

Event Engine connects across the protocols and systems your plant already uses — with broad PLC protocol support, multiple database targets, and built-in ZPL label printing for operations that need real-time labeling without a separate solution.

It is built on .NET Core LTS, which means it runs on a modern, supported runtime with a clear long-term support path — not a legacy stack that creates its own maintenance burden.

Where Event Engine Fits

Event Engine is the integration layer between your plant-floor control systems and the systems that use manufacturing data — historians, MES platforms, ERP systems, databases, and reporting infrastructure. It handles the complexity of that connection — protocol differences, data structures, event timing, error handling — so the applications above it can focus on what the data means rather than how to get it.

If your current middleware is slowing your team down, creating configuration debt, or making diagnostics harder than it should be, Event Engine is worth a closer look.
