    Traceability & containment

Which products are affected, and what should happen to them next?

Move from a suspect material or process condition to a population your team can inspect, contain and disposition with a recorded decision.

A practical path from record to decision

    3. Reviewed populationCurrent status and location
    4. Controlled dispositionAuthorized hold, quarantine or release

    Scope the investigation

Use recorded relationships to identify products worth reviewing.

    Distinguish status from location

See what is known about a unit and what still needs physical confirmation.

    Record the next step

Apply an authorized status or disposition with its supporting context.

Finding the original defect is only the start.

When a supplier flags a lot or a station produces a questionable result, the immediate question is where that risk traveled. IntelliTrack™ helps your team examine genealogy and production history, then make a controlled containment decision instead of assuming that every related unit has already been isolated.

    How it works in IntelliTrack™

Trace the relationship before deciding the response.

    1. Identify the starting point

Find the suspect product, material or production condition in the available history.

    2. Review the connected population

Use genealogy, where-used information and investigation evidence to inspect affected candidates, status and recorded location.

    3. Apply and confirm containment

Have authorized users select the response. Confirm physical containment and manage quarantine or release under the applicable procedure.

    Illustrative manufacturing scenario

A supplier lot questioned after assembly.

A purchased component lot has already been consumed in several assemblies. Quality can inspect where it was used, review the related units and decide which products need containment or further investigation.

    Quarantine and disposition

What you can inspectAuthorized actions and their recorded context.

Your team's decisionDetermine whether a product may resume work or ship.

Set up the workflow around your process.

    • Capture product and material identities consistently at the operations where relationships are created. Missing or incorrect scans limit what genealogy can establish.
    • Configure product status rules deliberately. A Hold blocks shipping but does not inherently block work; OK-to-work and OK-to-ship settings determine the relevant controls.
    • Equipment and application workflows must use the returned permissions. Physical containment, customer communication and final disposition remain managed activities.

    Practical questions

What to know before you start.

Does IntelliTrack™ automatically quarantine every related product?

No. Traceability and investigation workflows help identify a population. Authorized users review the evidence and apply the appropriate actions; an identified candidate is not the same as a confirmed quarantined unit.

    Does a Hold stop production?

A Hold blocks shipping but does not inherently prevent further work. Review the configured OK-to-work and OK-to-ship behavior and ensure the station integration honors the appropriate decision.

Can we trace from a component lot to finished goods?

Yes, when the relevant material consumption and product relationships were recorded. Include a representative component-to-assembly chain in the evaluation so your team can see the exact coverage.

Is the recorded location proof that the item is physically there?

It is the location established by the recorded workflow. Physical movement outside that workflow can make it stale, which is why physical containment confirmation matters.

    Who can release quarantined product?

Release and disposition depend on authorized roles and applicable signature policies. Configure those responsibilities to match your quality procedure and test the approval path.
